Anybody else having problems this year with vandals in yer woods? I've got 2 treestands on my property that have been up for 3 years now, no problems. This weekend I went to the one at the back of my property (that borders State Forest) and found the cushion missing from the seat. Came back Monday afternoon and the suckers had tried to disassemble the ladder and make off with the whole stand. Logging chain seemed to defeat them. So now I'm out a cushion and a couple of bolts, could have been worse. Anybody else having any problems with these lowlife scum trespassers?

I had a lot of trouble in the past with people stealing my stands. I decided to buy a climbing stand and now that is all I use. It is a little less convenient but I have gotten used to it.

I hunted a farm in perry co. a long time ago and two of the local teens down the road from our camp told us that deer season is also treestand season. They knew who to get a cheap treestand from and if you live in area you have all the time in the world to get it,not many locks a hi-powered rifle can't open or be cut off.

My Dad has had a ladder stand up for three years now. It's way off the road, about a quarter mile, it's gone! All they left was the cushion. It was on private property also. I should see if he wants to donate his cushion to you.

This is a big problem for absentee landowners. If someone knows you don't live on the property, then they know they can most likely get your stand without you catching them. It's a good idea to use a game camera to "watch over" your stand if your an absentee owner, or hunting on someone else's property. Also, post "no trespassing" signs. And if you catch the sucker in the act, make sure you invite the sheriff over to escort the scumbag to jail.

There are a lot of people that think they should be able to hunt the woods like people did 150 years ago.

    Times are changing.

I have some remote property and I can't wait to see what happened to the "no trespassing" signs I put up in the spring.

I got the "No Trespassing, Hunting, etc." signs posted around the back of the property now. No further sign of anybody around. I was out in the woods Monday night until the rain came in, no sight or sounds of anyone. Gonna pick up a trail cam at Bass Pro's "Black Friday" sale. Suckers will probably steal that too! No use callin the cops even if you catch somebody anymore. Way it is today, you catch em, they claim you had a gun and threatened them, you go to jail for aggravated assault!

I had some guys attempt to steal my ladder stand last year. It was right on the property line overlooking our field and north side of the treeline. (back part of the woods belongs to someone else and the property line runs right inside the north treeline behind the pond) Well they apparantly couldn't get the ladder apart, or defeat the cable lock I had on it. (I'm glad they didn't have bolt cutters) So instead they just took the brace that goes from the ladder to the tree, and all the clevis pins. And this stand is almost 1/4 mile back from the road, hard to see unless you know where it was. I think it was either someone that had seen me hunting there when i was wearing the orange, or the guy the other property owner lets hunt his side.

I've since taken down that stand and hope to put it in our new woods that very few people know we own and hasn't been hunted for a long time :)
