I know that we all have 48 hours to check in deer so numberscan fluctuate as to what day a deer was actually killed, but I ran some"special antlerless season numbers". Take it for what it is worth...
Last weekend was miserable weather for some and mostly die hards got out forthe opener and the numbers show that. As the weather improved this week thenumber started picking up.
Here is what it looks like -
Saturday - 342
Sunday - 224
Monday - 132
Tuesday - 278
Wednesday - 517
Thursday - 494
Friday - 769 Total - 2,756
Even with the nasty weather to start the season I'd say we are on a par withlast year for the "special antlerless season" take of 4,171..
124,540
As of Monday, January 4, 2016 at 7:13 AM CST
That is 1,558 deer checked in since yesterday morning
That is 5,628 deer checked in sincethe morning of the opener for the "special antlerless season".
Ofcourse some could be archery and deer reduction zone kills...
For up to date harvest numbers see - www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/8367.htm
Wonder what the ratio is. Number of deer taken to number of licenses sold and number of hunters. I know there is a good number of people who have a lifetime license and that would have to be taken into consideration.
I know that I got one buck and one doe this year and bought the bundle so that is one unused tag.
With the guys I hunt with, there are 4 of us this year, all bought the bundle and we got a total of 5 deer. 5 deer for 4 hunters with 12 tags.
