So I come across this upper assembly. For a small fee I purchase it.
Diemaco flat top upper, Colt socom barrel, Colt bolt carrier assy. Charging handle. Barrel is 02/19 date. Upper receiver Diemaco/A forge mark with triangle by barrel nut. Colt cage code socom barrel. Unknown round count… no erosion in throat/lead or around gas port barrel has minimal use. Upper receiver has obvious wear.
I’m thinking rebarreled upper assembly from Colt Canada.
Came with a matech site and some janky grips.

Any ideas as to what I’ve got here?

Unicorn, maybe not. Cooler uncommon upper, probably. If I had to make an entirely baseless claim I'd say it was a "get this **** out of here" upper. Colt stopped producing ARs for the commercial US market later in 2019. I wouldn't be surprised if they started assembling uppers from stuff lying around to clear out inventory.
