    I see that now.
    If it was me, I'd go at least 2' deep. Why put it in shallow and take the chance of hitting it later when you're digging for something else

    THIS! As someone who has hit shallow cabling while digging, absolutely this. Or make sure you put a foil marker strip 6" down. That way if somebody starts to dig there, they hit that first and stop.

    And as for the vac trick, a small walmart bag works great. tie the handles together with the pull string and insert the bottom of the bag into the far end of the conduit.
