Be patient and don't call to much. Don't call too loud unless you are locating them.

Excellent advise...this is the mistake I made when I first started turkey hunting...and I didn't realize it until I got to hunt with a friend that has been hunting them for 20 years plus. As for locating them ...use a crow or owl call and only use a turkey call after you have located them and have set up on them....if you use a turkey call and the tom is close he is going to be looking for you or possibly start coming towards you, not giving you much of a chance to set up without getting busted.

I get to go to Tennessee for a weekend of turkey hunting this year! Hopping to get one with my bow this year for the first time. I wish season would open a little earlier around here. The birds are almost done strutting around here when season opens.

I'm really getting the itch to get out and do some turkey hunting .

I plan to take my son on his 3rd youth season this year and good lord willing he will bag his 1st bird.

We had him setup on a bird at 15 yards last season and he just couldn't sqeeze the trigger lol! but it was a blast!

Anyone else on here turkey hunt?

If I had to choose between Turkeys and Deer I would hunt Turkeys everytime.
