Is there a way in outlook / hotmail to code my sent mail to identify if it has been read?

In Outlook settings you can select "Read Receipts". It gets annoying if you send a lot of mail, though. And, if the recipient has a preview pane open, they can just select your message and delete it. You will still get a read receipt.

It should be called "Delivery Confirmation"
