Is 12% of my income too much to be putting into my 401(k)? I'm only 23... The parents persuaded me to put that much in. My bi-weekly checks are quite a bit smaller than I'm used to but I'm making it work.

When I started my 401K, I allotted 10% of my income to it. My Employer matches it up to 5%. Several years later, when I got married, I reduced the contribution to 5%. It was doing very well until 2008. It has gone up and down a few times since then.

Going to the gas station to fill up the Jeep is not such a chore if I run in and get a bag of these every time.
