I agree that they could have gone many different ways with this law. I think some employers don't want guns on their property because of the "risk". So if this bill would inject some self-responsibility, and by that I mean a law acknowledging that the employer cannot be responsible for what his employees do on his parking lot, whether it be shooting someone, slipping on ice, smoking pot, or whatever.
Perhaps couple that with Tallenn said, a no-submitting to search on a whim law. I think those two things could have solved the problem, and the word firearm or handgun wouldn't have even had to be in the bill. It would probably have already passed by now.
