1st Ranger Battalion
On 19 August 1942, 50 Commando trained soldiers of the 1st Ranger Battalion, United States Army, participated in the raid on Dieppe. Attached to Canadian Infantry and British Commando units, they were the first United States soldiers to engage German armed forces in WWII.
Killed in Action: 2dLT Edward V Loustalot, 2dLT Joseph H. Randall, Tech 4 Howard M. Henry
These volunteers were the first United States soldiers to die for the liberation of France.
They led the way.
@Sylvain
They used to have only a small plaque nearby that read:
Now they have a more visible monument. All founded with private donations.
The old plaque is easily missed (on the right on the above pic) ... you don't have the flags and flowers all year around there.
More tourists and locals are now stopped at the new shiny monuments to see what it's all about.
There is a side in English and one in French.
My pleasure.
Obviously this does not apply to democrats!
The Bill of Rights
On December 15, 1791, the new United States of America ratified the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, confirming the fundamental rights of its citizens. The First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion, speech, and the press, and the rights of peaceful assembly and petition. Other amendments guarantee the rights of the people to form a “well-regulated militia,” to keep and bear arms, the rights to private property, fair treatment for accused criminals, protection from unreasonable search and seizure, freedom from self-incrimination, a speedy and impartial jury trial, and representation by counsel.
