I'd go wider then 22" imho...2 stage is a must.
I use a 22" single stage...while it's good for 1-4" of dry snow, ice/4"+ of snow/wet snow makes my single stage clog up. Clogged up snow blower means I'm out in the cold more then I'd like. 22" is ok for sidewalks, going bigger does make clearing the drive go much quicker, again, less time being outside in the cold weather.
Also, if you invest in a snowblower, buy a good quality brand. Cheap snow blowers really isn't all that cheap if you have to repair or replace them more often then the more expensive, higher quality snow blower.
