There's nothing you can do about people like that. They refuse to see how wrong they are. Even when you prove it to them, they'll still insist they're right and call YOU stupid.

This is how Obama got elected.

I just can't see how someone can think that people carrying guns legally are a threat. Before the change takes place, people were carrying illegally on his bus but legal permit holders were not because they obey the law. Now people are still carrying illegally but so are the legal citizens so logic tells me he would be safer.

If facts wont work, then nothing well.

    For example..
They anti gun group, the Violence Policy Center's own stats show that only approx 0.25% of all(non self defense) related gun deaths involve licensed gun owners.

I have used this stat to prove that gun owners are not the problem, criminals are the problem. On some it makes them go hmmm, others will never be swayed.

Once you have presented verifiable statistics, and they still feel the way they do, you know you cant appeal to their logic and you are just wasting your time.

Sounds like your friend is assuming there aren't and/or haven't been guns on city bus before (or wouldn't be if the law hadn't changed).

Is he so stupid/naive to believe that just because he hasn't seen any that they aren't there?

Criminals have always carried guns on city buses in violation of the law.

I got into a debate with a misinformed individual after responding to his facebook post. He used to be a coworked but had to be pensioned off for medical. He now drives a city bus (AKA public transportation). His post basically stated he couldn't believe how stupid Indiana is for taking cities rights away from enacting their own firearms licenses. This post pertains to a Indiana Carry Permit holder being allowed to carry a gun on a city bus as of 1 Jul 11. He is upset because he doesn't want guns in his workplace, and thinks that his bus will now be unsafe with people carrying guns in close quarters and he is upset that I carry my gun in Walmart because Im breaking the law by doing so. My other friends think I should cut my losses and unfriend the guy, but I can't let it go. I'm so frustrated by the misinformed who think your breaking the law because a walmart employee told them so. As of now until then law takes effect, you can not carry a gun on the bus, if you do get on the bus with a gun you are required to inform the driver lol. This guy really thinks that people don't carrying guns on his bus because of the law and that when it changes the bus will be full a gun carrying people. He thinks that it will even make those who carry illegally more comfortable with carrying on the bus since its legal for permit holders. Id like your opinions.

I think you helped him make his point.

I wouldn't want to drive a bus either with people I don't know getting on and off all day and up and down moving around behind me while I have to pay attention to traffic. Especially people with guns who don't have the minimum self control required to click the "unfriend" button on facebook.

Ignorance is bliss! Stupid people are perfectly fine with believing anything anyone tells them as long as it fits into their illusion of safety. As we all know when you limit the legal right of citizens to own/carry guns then only the outlaws have them.:twocents:

People like that are not worth it. It's like trying to debate politics with Liberals. They can not accept when they are wrong, and usually sort to name calling. I would post the laws, and leave it at that.

People like that are not worth it. It's like trying to debate politics with Liberals OR conservatives. They can not accept when they are wrong, and usually sort to name calling. I would post the laws, and leave it at that.

Fixed, different sides, but still the same coin.

Im confused. Since when is it illegal to carry on a city bus?

The only idea I have to why they may think this is because somewhere when getting a CDL I remember something about guns and ammo being in the written test... sadly since it really didnt apply to me I have since forgotten what exactly it was about... but that is my only guess other then he doesnt like guns.
