I don't agree with a lot of the things that Obama does or his policies but I get tired of seeing people using Reagan as the champion conservative who was so great to America. If you like Palin then that is great for you and if you like Obama then great for you as well because that is the purpose of our freedom to choose who we want to represent us. :patriot:

But as a proud, loyal American, I would prefer someone who is also a proud, loyal American as representative. Obama is much closer to Chavez in his "support" than our Founder's values. (And, like I said, he was "weaned" on Chicago Politics (Daley Machine corruption)

So where did I put words in your mouth? :dunno: You plainly state, right here, that you don't support teaching of religions in a public school.

As for the "religious studies" courses that you mention, those are typically elective type classes, and thus, not taught to the entire student body. However, you want evolution taught to everyone, and only those that may seek an alternative explanation to this theory can seek it out on their own free will. Is that about right?

I don't want it taught as fact. An elective, yes. Religion is an elective. It's not only an elective as a class, but it's an elective in life. If it were up to me, every subject would be an elective. Elective means you have the right to choose it or pass on it. That's pretty liberating if you ask me.

Trying to clump religion with science is absurd. As far as I'm concerned, the only appropriate way to refer to religion in a general science class would be as a metaphysical study.

Learning about religion is an important venture that I believe all humans should take. Adopting a religion is a personal thing. It has no place in public schools.

Here is a sure sign she is a shill for the republican party. The Tea parties were demonized by all the mainstream medias. fox did some ok coverage but it was because they wanted to hijack the teaparties for the republican party. Now that Sarah has taken front stage as a tea party leader all the news media has been covering it like its a major event even though there were only around 1,000 people at the event. So far thats been about the worst Tea party turnout yet. Heck they had almost that many people up in good ol kendallville and goshen for that matter.

This was an event for the local leaders of the Tea party movement. They came to learn from each other and develop stratgies.
Sarah Palin is not the Tea Party Leader.

The burgeoning tea party movement should remain leaderless and decentralized, former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said last night, calling the effort “bigger than any king or queen of the tea party.”
“Put your faith in ideas. I caution against allowing this movement to be defined by one leader or operation,” she told the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville. The small-government movement is “a ground-up call to action that’s forcing both parties to change the way they’re doing business. This is about the people.”

Might want to know what you're talking about before you spew false statements.

And as for teaching creation in schools also - our schools are supposed to give students the tools needed to make informed decisions/choices - NOT dictate how they are supposed to "think" (indoctrination/brain washing). The schools are supposed to offer ALL the information on the various subjects necessary. Not just THEIR views.

According to the bible, a father is responsible for the religious education of his children.
I don't think that responsibility belongs to schools or churches.

Reagan? Really? I thought most people on here didn't like a person for president who supports STRONG gun control and HUGE government spending. Isn't that two major policy issues that people on here have with Obama?

Reagan spent huge to rebuild a military that had been neglected.
The spending we did caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. I feel like I got something for my tax dollars with Reagan.
Obama on the other hand, I'm just not seeing it.

    Sara is Socialist

I thought the group-think on this forum was completely anti-socialism?

Sarah Palin is the biggest redistributionist governor in the entire USA!

A few weeks before she was nominated for Vice-President, she told a visiting journalist—Philip Gourevitch, of this magazine—that “we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.

    The Anchorage Daily News:
Sarah Palin just presided a huge redistribution of wealth when she signed an energy “rebate” of $1,200 for every man, woman and child in Alaska. The money for that wealth redistribution comes from our collective wealth, which we have thanks to our state constitution … The framers of our constitution wisely didn’t want state resources to be privatized, as they are in Texas, for example, where the people of that state are separated from their wealth by billionaires. Thanks to the framers of our state’s constitution, our collective ownership of state resources guarantees low taxes and high revenues, not to mention a Permanent Fund dividend program, another socialist scheme that gave each Alaskan over $2,000 this year … Truth be told, when Gov. Palin redistributes the wealth held in common by the people of Alaska, she is fulfilling the socialist dream of many of Alaska’s pioneers.

Note: Not that I disagree with the "Alaskan way," just pointing out that the forum members here that hate socialism with a passion also love Sarah Palin. There's a disconnect there that some would call hypocrisy...

LOL It is not socialism for the state to give PROFITS back to the people.
It is Socialist to take money from some citizens and then give it to others.
Each State operates on a budget, (for some states that is just a formality) when the state has excess funds, it should put some away in a rainy day fund and the rest should go back to the citizens of the state, in one form or another i.e rebate check or reduced tax rates.
    Nice reach there though.

Writing a book is a full time job that takes dedication. Sure a well trained author can kick out a book faster, but do you really think that a women who was the VP canditate and has 5 children actually wrote that book. Please the same people that wrote Obamas books probably wrote Sarahs.

I'm pretty sure Sarah Palin didn't have an unrepentant terrorist write her book.

    Just saying.

The spending we did caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. I feel like I got something for my tax dollars with Reagan.
Obama on the other hand, I'm just not seeing it.

Did the spending crush the Soviet Union his first year in office? It actually was in 1991 that it fell which was after his two terms were finished. If you want to go by the same comparison then you would need to let Obama finish this term and another to see if the money he is spending now will pay off. I personally am not a fan of that idea but if you want to compare to Reagan then that is exactly what you have to do. Don't forget that Reagan increased the national debt from $700 billion to 3 TRILLION DOLLARS in his terms in office as well. You want to criticize Obama for spending like crazy but that man did the same and nobody knew what they would get for it then.

Another debate often brought up would be that Obama is bad because he intervenes into peoples lives and forces government control on them correct? Ronald Reagan intervened and fired over 11,000 air traffic controllers for going on strike and not going back when HE said. How is that not a President abusing his power and forcing government into peoples lives?

Third, Ronald Reagan advocated strong gun control in every office position that he was in. President Obama hasn't even signed a bill yet that advocates stronger gun control but he has voted in favor of them. Ronald Reagan while Governor of California took away peoples right to carry with the Muford Act of 1967. Also, he was a HUGE supporter of the Brady Bill which is an extremely popular bill here on INGO if I hear correctly.

If Sarah Palin does get the nod for the Republicans then all I can say is I greatly hope she is nothing like Ronald Reagan. I have had enough of government intervention and the taking away of my rights and if she is like Ronald Reagan then that is EXACTLY what will happen again.

There is speculation in various books that Reagan's "Star Wars" program was a ruse with Maggie Thatcher of the UK to get Russia to overspend in R & D budgets to counter the program.

And the war on drugs was an alternate purpose for our military to exist during and after the cold war. Drug interdiction was a "good use" (as my LT. said during my naval stint) of aircraft, ships and men to keep them busy as the cold war wound down. I went through the RIF under Clinton and a fun time was NOT had by all.
