Been looking around at AR style 12 gauges. Right now I've been looking heavy at the Typhoon F12. But since INGO is a great resource, Anyone have experience with this shotgun? Or is there others that you would recommend that I should look at? Thanks in advance.

I really like the idea of 12g magazine fed shotguns.

But from what I've seen, they are heaviest most unreliable platform this side of the Khyber Pass.
Of the 10 or so examples I've seen fielded only 1 or 2 were functional and that only after years of breakage, tuning and testing. They either fail to feed, fail to extract or both.

YMMV, but IMO if they lived up to the expectation you would see many more of them in 3-gun Open classes.

Wasn't that Red Shirt guy on TV the only one who had a reliable product?

Wow thanks for the read. Had not thought about the issues with the mag. Deffantly something to keep in mind.

For any home/self defense situation, I would not rely on something like that. Shoot, rack, repeat. Not ammo sensitive in the least, heck dump out the shot and hit them with the wad if you want! For a fun gun, sure! But for anything serious, I would vote no.

I'd stay clear of stuff like that.

If you want a semi auto, get a benelli M4 or beretta 1301. If that's too steep, then go with a pump like a mossberg 590 or benelli supernova. In the land of shotguns, there's not really a good "cheap" semi auto.

Plus, do you really want to give your money to turkey... of all places?

I have a saiga 12 and did all of the wacky things to it that were popular back in the day. Managed to get it running birdshot without a problem. But if I leave a magazine loaded for more than a day or 2, the shells deform and will no longer chamber. Magazine fed shotguns are not a good choice.

Don't hate, but the Kel Tec KSG's might be an option, they're pumps though. One version can hold up to 25 rounds of 12g, the KSG 7, obviously holds 7..

    Most require a minimum velocity.

I have a Citadel Boss 25. Bought it more as a novelty but it's fun to shoot. Had a few cycling issues in the 1st 50 rounds. Since then it's been flawless. I run 3" shells with a velocity of 1500fps

Have you had problems with the Mags as stated above or do you keep them unloaded?

Since it's just a range toy I keep them unloaded, but no issues out of the factory 5 round or Panzer 10 round mags

I have competed against people running these at the ACC Boomstick Challenges. Let's just say that they are lucky to post a score. Terrible reliability issues, magazine feed lips that bend too easily, FTF, FTE, etc, etc, etc.

I would never own one. If someone gave me one for free, I would sell it.
If you want a semi-auto boomstick, stick with a Beretta, Benelli, Mossberg, or other well known tube fed.

Just my $0.76 ($.02 adjusted for inflation).

These are about the only ones I would consider myself and as others have mentioned shell deformation in the magazines is a serious concern, plus the magazines are only 5 rounds so my beretta 1301 holds 3 more in the gun right off the bat at a significantly lower cost too.

Well now it’s about the same price but my shotgun is “done” it’s $2800 for just the base AR12

I would really recommend shooting one first before buying. The joy of having a magazine fed shotgun may ware off and then it will be really hard to sell said shotgun. All the pawnshops I've been to typically have a few of those AR style shotguns in the racks.

Had a Saiga 12 several years ago. Eventually I ended up selling it and just buying a Benelli M4.

Had a guy bring one of those Turkish AR-style shotguns to training once. He took it out of his car and couldn't figure out how to get it into battery. Then it malfunctioned several times. I could have fired 6 rounds from my 870, reloaded, and fired 6 more in the time it took him to get through a mag in that big awkward thing. I was not impressed.

Maverick 88 12ga pump truly is just as good when it comes to reliability.
Or you can say you get more than you pay for with a Maverick 88.

Can add in the escort 12ga. Super reliable after about 100rds thru it. I wanted a maverick but none in stock at the time, so oldest daughter got me the escort.

I have decided to not go with it. Lots of good advice on here against it. Very cool idea to have one, but not practical after consideration. I already have a couple that are pumps and thought it would be a cool addition. Thanks INGO for helping me to NOT make an expensive mistake.
