At least he's a site supporter, the forum is full of "long time 50" posters with tens of WTS threads.

    That's very true.

Yep. Kudos to him for that at least.

He was not always a site supporter. IIRC that took place earlier this year. I think there was some prodding involved. I've had him on my 'do not deal with' list for at least 3 years. Yes, it's a actual list with notes. My notes from that time say 59 regular posts & 641 in the classifieds with no site supporter status. He's been doing it for a long time.

He's not the only one, there are dozens. Some worse.

Site supporter or no, I generally won't deal with someone like that either. Unless they're selling something I really really want. Even then I probably still won't.

Yep, there are several guns I was looking for and had cash in hand that I've passed over because of who was selling them. I passed on JackD7's CZ PCR because of his run to 50 and then attitude about it. I've seen MANY things I would have bought until I realized they were coming from John224 mister "I'm not a dealer, just thinning out my collerction". (Never mind that I bought the exact item right here a couple of months ago and now am selling it for a profit. I've only been here for 6 1/2 years with 90 posts & 892 in the classifieds.)

At what point does someone become a dealer again?

Im not organized enough to keep a list of who not to deal with and have it handy when needed. I just add them to my ignore list.
Safari is in my area so it would be convenient to trade with him but I consider him a dealer without advertising.

I would like to see a limit on how many classified post a member can post per year for free.
Have a limit for non site supporters and a higher number for site supporters.
Give a time limit on how long the post can run so they don't keep a running post and add items.
The time limit would also get rid of the "Rare special edition" item that's over priced and gets bumped for months.

All good ideas but just so much more work for the staff.

Yes, I pushed Safari into supporter status as I
was up his tail about running a business in here.
He does not post near as much as he did.

At first I didn't add flippers/squatters. I read a post from someone on my ignore list a long time ago because it was quoted and relevant at the time. I started wondering why I put them there and couldn't remember. That's when I started my list of why someone made it to ignore. Most of the people on my ignore list are now shooters or inactive members. I've tried very hard not to put anyone on there just because of a difference of opinion. Some of the reasons those that are there are:

    Stolen Valor
    Personal attacks
    Denied LTCH
Admitting past serious criminal activity, drug use, DUI
Extremely confrontational of consistently negative in almost everything they post
    Liars
Those that don't disclose discussed problems with guns they try to sell
    Stiffy

    Flippers/gougers/squatters/possible unlicensed dealers

Now just because someone has made my ignore list doesn't mean that I won't deal with them, read their posts, comment or interact with them. It serves as a 'heads up' for me to check and see why they made the list. After that it's a case by case basis and depends on the thread.

There are a lot of people that think the INGO rules are strict. Our rules are very loose compared to many other sites. I've seen others that have just what you described. A monthly limit on how many classified posts someone can have. Some have a set number total, others have a set number of active threads making you close one down to post the next. Some sites limit the actual items you can post. IIRC castboolits.com rules say you can't list anything that isn't casting/reloading related, you can't sell your TV or car.

It would be nice to see reasonable limits for posts. I started adding squatters to the list when I logged on one day and found my entire first page (except one) of unread posts filled with WTS ads from the same person. It actually extended into the top several posts of the second page. It would be nice to see reasonable limits on the amount of posts in the classifieds. A certain level for non-site supporters, a higher level for site supporters, and unlimited for those honest businesses that pay for the blue name. Another thought would be if someone hasn't posted anything in more than a year they have a 30 day & 10 post minimum lockout of the classifieds. It would be up to that member to contact the mods for reinstatement after their 30 days, not the mods job to keep track of it for them. This is done for the ones that pay the site supporter fee for early access to the classifieds, it's up to them to contact the proper staff member. Maybe a waiver on the time/posts if there is an emergency & need to liquidate.

The level of classified posts has grown quite a bit over the years, it's not seen as a perk by many, more of an expectation. It seems to be thought of as a right by many of the newer members. When someones iTrader rating is larger than their post count then that's not a perk, it's a business.

I don't know if the software can be tweaked to do this or not. Castbollits is running VB 4.2.3. I can ask one of the staff over there and see if it's software or manual labor based.

Stolen Valor: I often tell people I am a politian, lawyer, or used car salesman. More respectable than an ex-bubblehead.
Personal attacks: All of war is political, and all my attacks are personal.
    Denied LTCH
Admitting past serious criminal activity, drug use, DUI: I've heard my jokes "kill".
Extremely confrontational of consistently negative in almost everything they post: TAKE THAT BACK!
Liars: Is it really lying, if you are good at it?
Those that don't disclose discussed problems with guns they try to sell
Stiffy: Not sure what my PornHub use has to do with it.

Now I wonder if I'm on Angry Rooster's list.

Hell, you haven't given any of us cookies

    "COOKIES"

I guess I may need to make some cookies soon. I got so caught up in the bourbon balls and rum fudge that the only cookies I got done were the butter cookies, and hubby has eaten at least half of those already.

    I am racing to 150....
Boom got it LOL I crack me up

I was racing to 26K but then realized the other night that I had gone right on past it without even knowing it. :rockwoot:

I knew I was dreaming when I posted it because of all the extra work it would cause unless the software could do it.

You do a great job with keeping the house as clean as possible. But knowing you I wouldn't expect nothing less.

    A few examples:

Both from the same person 5 years apart.
...not suicidal. I am not a vet, but I have seen my share of death and destruction. Enough to warrent the ptsd.
...And no I didnt read the rules or I would have just paid 20 bucks a long time ago if I cared about the magic 50. Instead, I get ridiculed and made fun of by this "community". No problem, there are plenty of places that dont mind talking to a retired gunny. Good luck and god bless, cause im done with yall.

Now a shooter, but he made the ignore list because of his attitude. I guarantee I would not get along well with this person and I wanted to make damn sure I never did a transaction with him.
I love reading all the spending you are doing and all the gloom and doom. Most of the pack rats on this sight are over 55-years-old which means in another 20 years, I'll be attending all kinds of estate sales and garage sales buying ammo, guns and all sorts of goodies for pennies on the dollar from your estates. Brand new still in the package. What a deal.

A friend of mine just purchased such a collection. This old joker croaked and had 1.8 MILLION rounds of rifle ammo and a gun collection that would out do most of the gun shops in the US. It seems he was absolutely sure he would need this ammo "someday". Instead, he's looking down seeing someone else buy his hoard for pennies on the dollar and making a bundle.

These are a few on the list & why they made it there. I wanted to make sure I didn't violate any rules in the formation of this post. I only used things found directly here on INGO, none of my screenshots, pictures or notes. Names were removed from the quotes, some links provided. It usually takes something serious or offensive for me to put someone on ignore. It's not something I take lightly.
