    Never tried a bore snake. Just use brass brushes. I will look into them

    a cloth patch can only remove dirt till it is saturated.
    Compare the surface area inside a bore, to the surface area of that patch.
    It takes a lot of patches, even with the brush knocking it loose.

    The bore snake has a buttload of surface area.
    AND
    you don't throw it away.
    An old spaghetti jar with water, put in the jar, and shake, hang to dry.

    reusable.

    and didn't cost that much. Luckily a guy who works in our motor pool at work has the right tools to remove and install the pulley.
