whewwwwwwwwwww i was worried for a min.
Everyone else smelled like me.
We called it "Fresh Country Air"
In the 1950's recipe it calls for an entire stick of Margarine/butter instead of 6 TBS.
(Fat and Cholesterol be damned!!)
1 1/4 tsp Seasoned Salt.
1 1/2 TBS Worcestershire sauce.
8 cups Chex cereals.
1 cup mixed nuts.
Of course you can add pretzels, or anything else that your family likes.
My Mom started adding 1/4 tsp of garlic powder in the 60's.
Ralston Purina put out a Collector Tin for Chex mix in 1984 that has the original recipe printed on the underside of the lid.
When Mom passed I got her tin.
Interesting side note:
The original mix was called "Nuts and Bolts" because it called for pretzel sticks and cheerios, which look kinda like nuts and bolts.
When the Ralston Purina co. realized that they were selling a whole lot more chex cereal over the Holidays, they pushed to have it called "Chex Mix".
Oh yeah.
I microwave it on high for about 7 minutes stirring frequently.
