We do write custom control software all the time but it is quick and dirty.

Yeah, that sounds a bit different though. We don't do that type of stuff. More business solutions and not so much on the system controls stuff

FYI every black hawk helicopter in service today has at least 6 pieces of hardware that I have worked on.

Just saying it doesn't sound like I have quite that skillset. I'm more along the lines of business solutions and software (think intranet sites and task/report automation).
