My son is looking for a 1911 to call his own. We can get a brand new one for less than some of those idiots are pricing worn down used pieces. It has really become a joke.

It has. There are a few deals / fair priced things, but it's almost not worth the time to search.

New glocks are $600? Buy my used time-tested and proven used one with 10k through the pipe for $800!
