Yep. I finally make it back at 1:30 this morning...four days late. I will NEVER ride a train in the USA again. I have ridden trains in a lot of third world countries without issue. Amtrak is ridiculous.

Trains aren't bad when you take the cross country tour without any time frame. My folks did one of those and were gone about a month and a half. They said it was one of the best vacations they had. I figured it was because us kids were grown and didn't get to go.

DB, heard anything from Ruger on your .45???

Sent in last Friday and got it back today. They replaced any and everything to do with the mag and mag release, the extractor. Haven't shot it yet, I'll do that tomorrow. I'm a little ticked about all the problems they have with the SR line but they do have good customer service.

Except their older outboards. They aren't that bad but Honda didn't acre that much about there outboards and were the last to go fuel injection. There 4 stroke carb models are cold blooded to say the least. Somewhere around 2005 they quit using manual chokes and went with an electronic choke that was worthless.

The only issue I have with it is trying to find parts. My tiller was never imported into the US.

Congrats for getting home JDM. Daughter was bugging me to take that trip some weekend, think I will pass.

I have taken the train in good weather numerous times without any major issue. The advantage of the train is its price and the parking savings.

I have ridden a train through the jungles of Thailand and Malaysia during torrential rains without any problems. I have taken trains though bustling Bangkok with its 12,000,000 residents without a delay. I have shared a train car across Thailand with farm animals, immigrant workers, and a cargo of rice and still arrived on time. I've crossed international borders in third world countries via train quickly. I have gone 268 MPH on a commuter train in Shanghai without dying. I rode a train between Beijing and Shanghai at 168 MPH while receiving impeccable service. I have taken an old train throughout China's northern industrial belt that I felt was safe and prompt. I rode a train in Thailand that was so old it had wooden seats and arrived on time.

But somehow, Amtrak cannot operate service between Indianapolis and Chicago effectively. On this one trip our train ran over two elderly people, broke down three times, lost power once, lost heat once, had to have a new crew driven in, had a fight between passengers, and had every single toilet freeze.

Always the case when you cross the US border and go to Chicago.

For sure. The ONLY way I ever go to Chicago again is by car. In that case, I will NOT be saying longer than one day. The only reason I ever see myself reentering Chicago is a day trip to a museum or a connecting flight through the airport.
