    I hope so too!!!

It happens in the US too.

Deputies: Former commissioner sold fake bulletproof vests | Orange County News - WESH Home

They are accused of making counterfeit bulletproof vests, even using duct tape, and attaching the labels of legitimate companies. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement started its investigation in August after being tipped by a man who bought a vest at a gun show in West Palm Beach.
The man doubted it was the real thing, so he took the vest to a legitimate company, which called FDLE.
FDLE said the vests being sold didn't even work.
"We had that tested and every round went through it," said Daniel Warren with FDLE.

Now that's kinda scary if you buy one online and have no way to know it's real unless you test it.

Glad to know that duct tape is NOT an industry standard. :):

“One of the materials they used was duct tape to hold it together, and that is not an industry standard, and that is not something that really should be used in the manufacturing of ballistic vests," says Banks. The three men are charged with one count each of organized scheme to defraud and counterfeiting body armor.
Banks says the fakes were sold with labels copied from genuine brands including Point Blank, OMTactical, Safariland and Diamondback Tactical- as well as a fictitious company called Full Dragon Armor.
He says more than a thousand counterfeit bullet proof vests may have been sold in the past two years, and anyone who thinks they could have bought one of the fakes should contact the manufacturer.
