Oh, no. She has been driving since May. She passed her state test, just has to wait till she is 16 1/2 to get her DL.

She doesn't really need the practice, but she is at her Mom's house and needs to get out for awhile.

So she can drive but only if you're with her in the car?

Exactly, she has to be with a parent or relative older than 18.

And that person needs to have a DL, right?

I know here in France people who learn who to drive need to be with someone who had his/her licence for over 3 years. So usually 21 or older since you need to be 18 to get your DL here.

I'm not sure, I haven't checked. Her Moms car is a stick (5speed) so daughter only drives with me. Since she hasn't needed to drive with anyone else, I haven't checked the regs.

I will make her learn a stick, but she is fighting me on it.

I learned to drive on a stick, it's not that hard. But she is freaking out, so I will push it later.

I learned on a stick too.99% of the cars here are sticks.
Here if you pass your licence with a stick you are allowed to drive both autos and manuals. But if you pass the exam with an auto (usually for people who are handicapped) then you cant legally drive a manual car.
