When I was a kid and we was putting up corn, my step mom would have her sisters over to help. They would be working/talking on the back porch, Dad would call it "clucking & shucking".

Yeah, it generally is, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to deal a little by waiting until Sunday. I usually try to get there when they open on Fridays, but the yard sale nixed that this time.

No, probably some more oddball stuff... 7.65x53 (Argentine Mauser), British 303, 6.5 Swede... that kind of thing.

They're fun! Recoil about the same as a Mosin (at least the 8mm's), and very well made. So many different variants too.

I like the way they shoot, plus all the varied history of the different types.

Yeah, I should pick one up sometime, but hate to get into a different caliber. Since I started reloading, I have been trying to stick with what I can reload, except .22lr.

I plan to reload at least the 8mm, but for now, surplus is still available for cheaper than I could probably load it for. Turk and Yugo rifles are still pretty reasonable too.
