Actually if you talk to a doctor there is no such thing as stomach flu. That is a term made up by the masses. So the flu shot is just for the flu which is an upper respiratory thing.

And the respiratory flu gets worse the older you are. I now get the shot every year because I have had pneumonia in the past that developed with the flu.

They had me get the pneumonia shot a few years ago. I don't get the flu shot though...
