Picked up a new Savage today, a 1917 in 380 ACP, it's in the middle flanked by two Savage 1907s in 32ACP. They aren't as famous as the Colts but were designed with that early art deco style and the 1907 is your first high capacity American SA with a 10 round magazine.

I have never seen one of those before, very nice!

The really rare Savages are the 45 ACP models that they entered in the US army trials, failing to win, Savage simply cleaned up the pistols and sold them on the market like any other gun. Like the Colt 1905, when they come up for sale it's adult money.

Howdy again.........is it swampy in the southern woods...

Too swampy, wife wants to garden and I've got trees to cut up. It's too slick for the tractor so we'll probably be gathering rocks for her projects until it dries out some.

    Hi 451

I'll make note of that, haven't seen it with the ones I have so far.

Part of the reason I remember that pistol was my Grand-dad would only let you shoot 2 or 3 rounds. He was tiiiiigghhhhtttt with a buck and he always complained the ammo was expensive and hard to find...

Like the early Colt autos, you find a number of them in good shape as they spent their lives in sock drawers.
