    Doing some plumbing work before installing the kitchen sink base. Previous owner made some interesting choices on DIY projects. Went to attach PEX supply lines to the existing shut off valves and learned they were crappy polybutylene valves compression fit (poorly) to cpvc. First 1/4 turn after hand tight and the whole ****ing valve popped off and shot water up to the ceiling until I could shut off the main.

    yeah, mine too

    Most of my sinks/toilets don't even have shut offs. The main shut off doesn't even shut it off completely. I have to call the city to shut it off outside, then I can change the main shut off inside then I can call them back to turn it back on :facepalm:
