    wow. Is it a major undertaking to get it back on the rails?

    How in the hell do they manage that.


    Not that hard actually.
    It's in the shop that feeds us, so I haven't seen it, except thru the BOP west pitside canera.
    But usually, a motor or gearbox fails. These cranes are huge. They span across the building. They are two stories tall. They lift 650,000 lbs.
    There are 4 bridge motors/gears. NE, NW, SE, SW
    Bridge goes across the building N-S.
    Trolley goes E-W across the aisle..
    If a bridge motor goes, and the other 3 drive, it can cock and twist the structure.
    Twist enough, and a wheel pops off.


    To make it worse.
    They have 600,000 lbs of steel in the hooks.
    Ground is not level, so they can't set it down.
