Got a text from a coworker. They sent him home to get sleep. He's gotta go back at 5 am to run the gap sled at 6 am.
Meanwhile, millwrights and production are cutting out 2 damaged racks, and 2 damaged rolls.
So, I bummed up equipment into the tens of thousands of $$ and just thousands of $$ of overtime.

If you screw up, go big.
**** happens, hope it works out.

    The story of my life.
    Submarine, then steel mill.
Throw in a long distance relationship, and my life is a lack of sleep.

I feel your pain. Maybe not as bad as it is for you, but I never seem to get enough sleep. On the days I am really lacking, I see the mistakes I make, yet can't figure out to fix them.

    Oh, it'll work out.
I just have to wait to see how bad it is, and if I have to go to the union.
I'll take a day off for the mistake.
But if they're gonna throw the book at me, I'll fight that.
24 years, only been disciplined once before.

I'm sure this isn't the first time a serious mistake has happened there. People die there. Death is worse than $$ losses. Deaths on the job usually result in fines and such from OSHA, suits from families, etc.

They have a habit of throwing the book.
That's why we can't imagine working here without a union.

I'm glad you do. I know hubby had at least one incident where the union got involved on his behalf. That ended well for him. I'll pray that this ends okay for you as well.
