when you buy a 3/8th dowel rod you expect it to be 3/8ths so it will fit tightly into a 3/8 hole. I guess 11/32 is close enough for some. /rant (and a weak one at that)

I once went to Menards to get dowel rods and had to ask four people before I found someone who actually knew what they were. The first couple kept trying to steer me toward towel bars. I finally had to say "it's a round wooden stick that comes in different lengths and thicknesses". The millennials were sure that Menards didn't carry something like that.
