Just took a drive around. No evidence of trespassing hunters so that was good. Off to get some stuff at the feed store and my weekly paper.

It sounds like my dad may be selling off his old Ballard Rifle so I need to do some research. They are considering listing it on Rock Island's auction site but mom didn't know what their cut is so I told her I would do some reading on prices as well to see if they are being told an accurate estimate for what to expect on it. I hate to see him sell Maude, but they are getting hit with the medical bills from his hospitalizations this summer. Old Maude may need a new home.

It's a Ballard #2 made in the 1800's. Dad knows more about the gun than mom could tell me so I may need to call him for more details. It is featured in a book about Ballard Single Shot Rifles that was written by John Dutcher.

I guess I better go run my errands so I can get my bread mixed up and rising. Hubby is back at the firewood pile. He must be really bored. Found a couple of big cherry trees down in the back that will be next on our chopping list. That wind the other day took out a few.
