I left 2 hours early on my last day. God it couldn't go fast enough. Was working nights. At 5:00 I just said **** it! I'm out!

One of the production guys, "lunch money", was on his last day, a day shift.
    His relief called off.
He worked a double cause they told him if he walked out, they'd see to it that his pension would be SNAFU''d.

I never went in on my last day. I never even told anyone I was having a last day.
I woke up, looked at Mrs.Mouse and said....."I am done"
I talked so much about it for so long that everyone thought I was joking. After I didn't show up for the next week I would get phone calls, guys would be like " damn, you really ain't coming back are you?"

Myself, being a bully and all, I would have driving directly to my reliefs house and beat him near to death.

    Just because.

    Failure to Perform Assigned Task.

That charge got me 5 days off.
The fact the Assigned Task was to work under a suspended load, violating a Cardinal Rule didn't seem to bother them.
All you have to do is say it's un safe. They either send you home with pay or if they deem it wasn't un safe your day off without pay is your punishment. They can't fight the Un safe card.

    Then your union sucks.

USW is pretty much fighting for it's life.
My griever was in Pittsburgh for negotiations, and I was less than thrilled with the substitute.
So I took a plea bargain.
    5 days off
Good behavior for 6 months to remove it from my record.
If I went to arbitration, with an arbitrator that's never been in a mill, it would be 5 days off, stay on the record, next offense would be fireable.
