I used trackballs on most of my servers it was nice because I didn't have to sit down to do something simple.

I don't have to sit down to use my mouse or my keyboard.

True but with a number of servers to deal with it was just easier to be able to just walk up to one and move the ball around. Never had to even bend over.

Can't you pretty much control all your servers from a single laptop these days? (I have no idea, but it seems like everything can be done remotely these days.)

I suspect that you can. We used KVM's.
