That's what I'm finding. Some of the low end safes have a good door, but 1/16th inch thick metal on the sides, could just about tear it open with a hammer.Depending on the brand and price there is not much difference between the two.

I think my best bet is to try to find an old bank safe. Sure it could be cracked by someone knowledgeable, but I'm just concerned about hoodlums.

With just a live bolt on the top and side of the door you can probably pry it open easily.
Also not sure it offers fire protection.
