I know he laid out a figure just south of 550. They were all crying that the Hemi was north of 500 so I found that kind of amusing.

Yeah I thought it was funny Mr Laughlin pointed it out. But yeah on that Richard was right. He did say he was bringing the same car, same motor etc. They never even discussed any cu in limit for the race unless it was edited out or I missed it

Chief will have his hands full with that red Camaro.

    Absolutely

I was just on another web site. And saw an article with Ryan and he said that his motor mad 4500+ HP on the dyno.

Just for anyone interested the 481x came from the idea of making a bbc/hemi hybrid. They have like 570 cu in version that make more than 5k HP.

Steve Morris Engines Unveils Twin Turbo "Anti-Hemi" 481X Build!

As stated earlier, AJPE’s 481X engine platform is a hybrid between the big-block Chevy and Hemi architecture. It retains the big-block’s 4.84-inch bore spacing, but utilizes mostly Hemi patterned auxiliary components. And AJPE teasingly calls this combination the “Anti-Hemi.”

So what exactly is the "auxiliary components"? Cams and valvetrain (Minus the whole hemi head)?

I'm not super familiar with it. But from what I gather by looking at them in a number of cars it looks to use the hemi style cam, magneto etc. Being all billet it's really a custom design. Pretty sure the heads use the hemi bolt pattern but the heads are their own design that only share some characteristics of a BBC. The whole 481x came from Alan Johnson (Top Fuel genius). He took the top fuel hemi and used the BBC bore space to stay under a 5" bore and created a cylinder head that isn't a hemi head but is kinda sort of like a BBC big chief head. From my understanding in pro mod anything with a 5" bore spacing gets a lead weight trophy so this came about so guys could get the weight break of a smaller bore.
It is amazing what some of these guys can build from a big chunk of aluminum.
