    I had this happen to me, but luckily it was with horses and not gorillas. There was a very young colt, laying flat out in the middle of the ground sleeping, and I sneaked up on him with my camera and knelt to shoot a picture.

    The Sun was behind my back (hey, I was in the Air Force, we always come out of the Sun) and as I was focusing on him thru view finder I saw a shadow start covering the ground in front of me.

    The entire herd of horses was surrounding me in a semi circle, all of them with their heads slightly cocked looking at me, trying to figure out what I was doing. I did not hear a sound from 12 or 13 horses sneaking up on me.

    Happily, I was good friends with the horses.
