A technician sees how to fix something to where it more or less works like it did before, and then most importantly, knows to stop right there.
An engineer will see six or seven ways to “improve” the original design, and try to implement all of them while adding a blue tooth garage door opener and a death ray. And your toaster will never again work quite right.
