Back in the day, when we had to hand carve our briefing slides out of clay and bake them in the sun ourselves, I went to squadron officers school at Maxwell AFB. They had a large lecture hall painted light blue. It was known to all students and alumni as the “blue bedroom.“ Caught many a Z there.

Power Point was something that occurred after I left.
    But, I've heard stories.

And blue is a bad color for a room to keep people awake in.
The Navy spent $$$$ on figuring out colors for submarine interiors.
Red and Blue were both BAD.
Of course, you dealt with the colors of a sub more than regular people deal with a room.

I became well acquainted and very proficient with PowerPoint in the 90s.

I once went to mano a mano with the general counsel, the president, and the project manager of a mid-level defense contractor in a 45 minute briefing armed with nothing but a PowerPoint presentation and my stunning personality to convince them why they didn’t win a $100 million contract despite having a really good product. And won.

    500 different shades of grey.
    a few shades of white.
    Some greens.

Lighter shades tend to be preferred over darker shades.

Blues tend to cause more sleepiness, or inattention.
Reds tend to increase the number of fights between crewmembers.

50 Shades of Grey? In a submarine?

    Yep.... Navy Seamen.....:yesway:

And painting them purple makes sleepy sailors fight one another.
