That's funny but it looks like the AF has increased the training from 6 weeks when I was in way back when.

Yep, one day of M16 training and I was the best shot because out of 20 shots, I had 21 holes in my target. Bwahahaha!

I'm going to tell this story with the caveat that my uncle likes to tell a story...and has been known to enhance them, from time to time, for the pleasure of the listener.

My uncle enlisted in the Army Reserve back in the early 60s (rather than be drafted). He was infantry. He claims that during Basic, during a practice session (sessions?) they would all pick a certain target number before hand and when it was "open fire" everyone who could get an angle on it would fire at the same target...and the wood tart holder, obliterating it. Keep in mind that they were still shooting the mighty M1 Garand. He claimed it was worth the punishment.

Anyhoo, you just don't entertainment like that with 1 day rifle training...

...and of course I got the Army's full rifle training and qualification at basic, but you just can't have fum like that with the 5.56 and those weird green plastic pop-up targets.

My Dad didn't even get to do that as he was an Anti-aircraft missile tech and they got their Carbines out once a year for qualification.

I know it's an old meme... but it was posted in the "PC Master Race" subreddit, and a surprisingly high number of people agreed that they were into "all of these".

Even on reddit, the pro-gun people exist... Refreshing.
