I installed an answering machine for an older friend (that makes them really old) and they had one of those that her son had wired incorrectly to a new one. They used to sell adapters. First phone we ever had was a 'party line' where you shared the line with other homes.

Today, all phones are on a "party line" with the NSA. :tinfoil:

Anyone else have one of the key fobs with a touch tone recording on it to speed dial a certain number? I saw it in a movie recently and laughed because I had one in the early 90's.

I had one but it wasn't anything to carry on a key ring. Mine was about the size of a pack of cigs. I thought it was sooooo cool.

In 90s had a "tone devise". We had a pulse line ( vs tone ) so when connecting to an automated system ( press 1 for , etc ) we couldn't. Battery operated tone device was placed over mouth piece, pushed buttons on device to make tones rather than pushing phone buttons.

I've heard women catcall men, and some would leave sailors blushing

Try walking through a woman's prison...I never thought I would feel uncomfortable with women "catcalling" me.

The 2 I remember were "You smell that girl? I smell a man!!" and "Do you take checks?".....lol

The row and column frequencies for DTMF (dual tone multiple frequency) commonly called "touch tone":

Just because I'm a geek like that.

Enough geek. Time for some funny.
