Nothing really new. Many do not remember or have never heard of the Battle of Blair Mountain. I had read the account several years ago. At that time the Virgina miners tried to organize. The mine owners hired private detectives and paid State and Local police to fight the miners. The miners were shot at by Mounted machine guns lent to the "Guards" by the ARMY. A armored train was sent by the miners camp armed with machine guns and the military or police opened up on the Tent camp - killing one woman. Martial law was declared and the MILITARY was brought in --- Battle of Blair Mountain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yeah, nice law on the surface, but anyone with any sense knows that you're dead the moment you point a gun at a cop that has busted into your house in a wrongful raid. Even if you manage to get a shot off in self defense, all the other officers will assume you're a dangerous felon and will open fire on you.

Agreed. Sad part is most honest folks will think they are being robbed because they aren't paranoid of the cops. They would probably open fire even if the PERPS were screaming "police" and go down. Then, being the Marxist state this country has become they would say the stupid &%#$^ should have just laid down and showed his papers.

Actually there are a few cases where this has happened and the guy is still alive. One of them was the reason that law put into place. He was locked up for a few years I believe, but they busted in his house in the middle of the night to do a raid on his neighbor in the duplex. He shot the first cop in the door because there was no ID before the raid. Cop died, he surrendered after shooting realizing they were police.

Maybe it gives the "authorities" more motivation to get things right thinking one may die.

I have a very low tolerance for incompetence in any field.

I have had a professional aviation background. Ice, thunderstorms, mechanical problems.........you make quick decisions and make sure you get it right or you are probably going to die.

Do you guys honestly expect anything less though? This is another example of only producing the bad information in a report. How many times do yo think they show up somewhere and have it turn out bad??? Theyre just following protocol and protecting themselves. If you were about to invade someones property unknowing of what waited on the other side of the door wouldn't you want to be armed to the teeth. Theyre just taking precautions. Yes sometimes unecessary, but for it to work properly it has to be done the same everytime regardless of the situation.

I think you missed the point of the story. Sure, if the govt is arresting a violent criminal holed up in a house, then a SWAT team is justified. The point of the story is that they are sending SWAT teams out for a show of force in situations that do not call for it. In the past, selling raw milk across the state lines would have been dealt with by letters and phone calls. Now, they send the SWAT team out as a show of force to bring other dairy farmers in line.

We are living in a police state when a bureaucrat can have your door kicked in simply because he thinks your ex-wife might have stolen scholarship money years ago. There is no need for these agencies to have this level of power. If they do need power, they should use the US Marshals. They only reason they have the firepower in their agency is because it gives them easier access with fewer questions asked.
