You misunderstand or my terminology is incorrect. The rail on the slide (inside), leave a 1/2" mill a 1/2",etc., lose a few more grams. Leave the slide rails alone. won't be seen from the outside.

I have no idea what it would do to durability but durability doesn't seem to be what you're going for.

Yeah. Nearly 220k miles on it. I've got friends who complain about their "old" 2014s.
