If you’re trying to stay reasonable in cost: Midways “heavy duty” soft cases are really pretty decent with nice thick padding.
Zippers are a bit cheap but so is the price ....less than $40.

FS AR pistol, spare mags, spare hand gun/mags. Maybe some light survival stuff.
MM showed Patience and I his new bag made by vertex. Had his sidefolder in it. Pretty smooth setup.

Have you looked at "Competition" range bags? 3 gun bags, etc. If you are wanting to carry more than a folder and mags, these will work like a bug out bag.
Not looked at those yet. This is more of a get home bag set up that will double as a Bug out.
I have a modified thing i use for foreworks shows and outdoor events. Backpacks get searched. This wont. I can show you next week CM.
Something you can do in addition to a bag since you are crafty anyways. If i can do it then the one you could make would be lots better.

I was using tennis racquet bags for AK underfolders taking my kids to the park a long time before they went mainstream. Once someone ppsts an idea online then it spreads like wildfire and everyone knows the secret.
I dont even want the cops knowing I have legal guns on me. No ones beeswax
