I accompanied my middle daughter on a field trip to Wright Patterson several years ago. It just so happened to be the same day as the Doolittle Raiders had their annual reunion. Very cool to get to shake a few hands and personally thank them.

I believe the last one passed last year.

I remember seeing a 4 row R-4360 Wasp Major on static display somewhere, maybe Wright-Pat. The plaque said it was really high maintenance, it powered the B-36.

Spending time at small airports when I was younger I got a chance to talk to people flying round engine planes and learned a few things. Jim Solenberg, a Harley dealer form Shelbyville frequented their airport a lot and flew gull wing Stinson V-77s that he rebuilt.
