I had a modern dinosaur come to my birdbath yesterday.
And then .... off he went. Ahh, the joys of flight.

Made a quick trip to the range this afternoon. The Prodigy was 99.99% flawless it just had a failure to lock back with the 17 round magazine. Further testing will be needed. Overall I'm more than pleased with the gun.

A couple of interesting deals on a few RIA 1911's over at PSA.

A double stack .45 GI style for $319 (it can use 14rd mags, but comes with a 10rd mag)

Edit: I'm wrong. It wasn't on this site, I looked. Guess it was on another website. My bad.

The double stack reminds of the Para Ordinance P14. From some of the Q&A it looks like the P14 mags work with it.
Unfortunately I had one of the P14's from when they were selling frame kits (before they did whole guns) over 3 decades ago and didn't realize the smith I bought it from wasn't particularly talented.

That one and one other bad example burned me on 1911's for a long time.

I picked up a stainless Para P14 off GB a while back and it hasn't had a single issue. Picked another up out of the classys here and it really burnt me. If they have "Made in Canada" on the frame, they are ones to get. The first one I got did. The second one didn't. Big difference in the quality of the two.

And mine wasn't a whole Para gun, and I firmly believe now the "smith" who built it wasn't very good. I could have bought a Gold Cup National match whole gun (my slide was a gold cup NM) for what I had in that Para and would have had something of value.

That was 30+ years ago and I bought a Glock 21 after I got rid of that P14 and that ran like a sewing machine. Wasn't the easiest gun to carry, but it ate everything, even the notorious "flying ashtrays"

Well just finished cleaning the Prodigy and I'm going to be ordering a tool less guide rod ASAP. The 2 piece rod was finger tight when I went to loosen it and that was after just 50 rounds.

Edit: Just ordered a guide rod from Atlas Gunworks.

Good evening all. At the end of registration today, 9,111 cars.

Here's a picture of the "Nitro Knockout". The NSRA invites a group of drag racers to display these cars and start them up twice a day. I wanted to take a video, but have to hold my ears. This is right before startup.
