    In the ongoing discussions regarding gun laws I find many, even those on our side, shocked by just who is behind pushing "gun control", organized crime. The man responsible for Chicago's handgun ban in the early '80s was a made man and he is celebrated in Chicago today.

    A blog post from 2010 reads to be re-read by INGO so that we understand the role that the Chicago Outfit had in Chicago's handgun freeze/ban in 1983 and see that the Outfit is still behind gun control efforts in Illinois and in DC. (Needs to read as well for the information about how the Outfit put gangsters into the Chicago Police Department even making one of their own Chief of Detectives).

    Don't you remember the '80's? Almost every big time gun ban advocate (Mario Biaggi leaps to mind) in Congress ended up in prison eventually for bribery and corruption. Criminals love gun control.

    Great find! Just another great example of self proclaimed "elites" dictating how you will be governed. As someone who was born and raised in the Region, the mentality of "connections" is alive and well. If you last name doesn't end in "vich" your sol!

    This isn't a big revelation.

    If you look around to places in this country that have draconian gun control laws, you'll commonly find a strong organized crime influence.

    Look at our own Lake County here in Indiana.

    Historically they usually are against any gun law that gives any empowerment to the common citizen, and commonly attempt to have Lake County exempted.

    Yes. But here are a few interesting facts:
    1. The model gun control legislation was drafted by the NRA in the 1920s;
    2. In California, governor Ronald Reagan pushed for implementation of gun control and claimed there was no reason for anyone to leave their house armed;
    3. The original advocates of OC was the Black Panther Party which scared white Americans to push for gun control.

    No.

    The Uniform Firearms Act (which Indiana adopted a part of) and the Uniform Revolver Act and the Uniform Maching Gun Act were drafted by the National Conference on the Commission for Uniform State Laws.

    Who told you this, Red State or Angel?

    In California, governor Ronald Reagan pushed for implementation of gun control and claimed there was no reason for anyone to leave their house armed

    Ronnie Raygun signed the Mulford Act to combat the Black Panthers.

    3. The original advocates of OC was the Black Panther Party which scared white Americans to push for gun control.

    Racism has always been the motivation of gun control but open carry was the standard long before the Black Panthers. Indiana made it the law in 1820 after the state banned concealed carry in 1820.

    Good stuff, Kirk. Thanks!

    It always runs deeper and worse than it looks on the surface. How many of these "gentlemen" did Obama put into his administration. Fundamental transformation? Absolutely!

    No.

    The Uniform Firearms Act (which Indiana adopted a part of) and the Uniform Revolver Act and the Uniform Maching Gun Act were drafted by the National Conference on the Commission for Uniform State Laws.

    ...whose special consultant and person responsible for many of the provisions was NRA President Karl T. Frederick. He supported and was proud to help implement the ultra-stringent gun control in D.C. 1934 NFA HEARINGS

    Ronnie Raygun signed the Mulford Act to combat the Black Panthers.

    So that makes it okay? The Mulford Act prohibited carrying a gun on one's person, in one's car on a public street or in any public place. Was he still trying to combat the Black Panthers when he gave a speech in 1991 in support of the Brady Bill?

    Racism has always been the motivation of gun control but open carry was the standard long before the Black Panthers. Indiana made it the law in 1820 after the state banned concealed carry in 1820.

    Of course it was the standard but later became restricted. The modern open carry movement (in places where it was not the standard) was largely begun by the Black Panthers.
