His money, his seat, he can play however he wants. How do you know that was their last $20, or the rent money. Not sure what being "tatted up" has to do with anything. When I go to the casino I only take what I can afford to lose, maybe that's what he did. That being said, I would never have hit on a seventeen with the dealer showing a deuce.

I never said he couldn't. There is such a thing as table etiquette, however, no matter what you might think.

I don't. It was pure speculation and the fact that it was the last $20 in his wallet and that he decided to spend it at a $10/hand table. The entire scene made me think that they were hoping for a long shot.

Not sure what being "tatted up" has to do with anything.
Because he looked like a slob. With his dirty jeans, greasy hair, tank top, and arm and neck tattoos, he looked like a slob with no self-respect. I'm sorry if that offends you. No, actually, I'm not. I don't really care if it offends you. I don't like tattoos, and I don't care for people who go out looking like greasy slobs. Deal with it.

Had dinner at the French Lick Hotel Saturday, and then did the murder mystery thing at the train Museum.
Food in the Power Plant was OK. Service was good.
Murder Mystery thing was just ok. Audio on the train needs improvement.
    Didn't go into the Casino..

It may not actually matter, but it ticks everyone off. There are written rules and there is etiquette//courtesy. Bad play is bad etiquette.

Correct. I wasn't saying how it should be, I was saying how it is, and people don't like it when you take their cards.

And you also said that their play affects your wallet which is patently false. I love sitting at a table of black-jack "pro's" who sit around and complain that bad players are "taking the dealers bust card". The myth that it has an impact on your results is why the "ettiquette/courtesy" exists in the first place. Otherwise, no one would care how the bad players play.

Not offended. Just saying that a lot of judgements were passed on a person during a very short interaction. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

    snippy, snip, snip...

Now, at a $10 table, twenty bucks isn't going to get you very far

Additional moral: Pay attention to the little signs on the tables. Don't sit down at a $10 table with only a twenty in your hand. It makes you look desperate.

While this is normally the case.

I have bought in with 30 dollars on a 15 dollar table and turned it into 550+.
Why 30, cause it was outcome from the 5 dollars the casino gave me. Which I took to a 5 dollar roulette table.

It was just my night... I enjoyed playing with their money! ;)

The kid's mistake was going to a casino in the first place. When the House has an edge the only smart move is not to play.

One of the things I like about French Lick is that there is usually a $25 table up in the high limit, and its normally pretty empty early afternoons. I can go up there and have a good time without worrying about people that are new and simply dont care about basic strategy.

On a side note I will be down there on the 16th hoping to walk away with a little :D

You're probably right about where the etiquette came from. It's hard to not get mad when the cards go that way, but I do like to point out the next win happened because of the odd move. I don't like to do things with novices because it's a different level of play. Racquetball, tennis, basketball, cards, etc... It also ruins the "us against the house" concept that players enjoy and band together through.

My best run at BJ was after losing $280, I had $20 left. I put on food service gloves I had in my pocket (gotta be prepared) and told the dealer I was tired of touching the crap she was dealing. Then I ended up $100 positive two hours later. It was on a Carnival Cruise. Fun ship indeed!

As I read this thread I think I should go to the casino. The only person to lose on this thread is the tank/tat guy.

The odds say if you gamble long enough you will lose. Those fancy casinos are not built from winners.

Shhhhh, I thought that was a secret. I want to encourage all the gamblers to keep at it. The Horseshoe Foundation in New Albany gives away millions of dollars to worthy causes, like the YMCA. Keep gambling! You can walk away a big winner!
