My point in not using the Bible as a discussion tool for self defense is to show that reason stands alone on philosophical legs; not just the Bible.

The Bible serves as the underlying philosophical foundation of the Framers of the Constitution as the United States Supreme Court has stated repeatedly. Understanding that The Bible supports the concepts of bearing arms for self-defense and a universal militia helps us understand the Second Amendment.

The Bible is a spiritual book and while you can find advise about self defense, is not a good place to look for purpose of self defense.

I disagree. Look at at this way, twb, there is no greater purpose of self-defense than to protect life, a gift from God.
