Not to threadjack, but the off-hand side grip that guy is shown using in that video seems unorthodox. Can someone explain it?

It's something I first saw in a Panteao video w/ Travis Haley(adaptive carbine?), however I don't recall it being explained in that video. I think the purpose/benefit is to allow quicker switching between targets. You can push or pull the weapon to the next target. Also, it seems to mitigate muzzle climb under rapid fire.
