I thought Straw Purchases were already illegal?

Believe it or not, the penalty associated with a crime is a major deterrent. Raising it does absolutely no harm to law-abiding citizens and could do much good for society.

    Quick notes over his speech:

He has a specific set of proposals
Intend to use whatever weight this office holds to make them a reality

LEO/Schools/Public Health - Given tools to help reduce gun violence
    Strengthen background checks
Help schools hire more resource officers
    Develop Emergency preparedness plans
Make sure mental health professionals knows options for reporting likely offenders
CDC to study ways to reduce gun violence
    23 executive actions total

    Congress Mentioned In:
CONGRESS SHOULD require universal background check for any firearm purchase
CONGRESS SHOULD restore ban on AW and ten round mag limit
CONGRESS SHOULD make it harder to manufacture military style assault weapons
    CONGRESS SHOULD help law enforcement

So it looks like a lot of this is going to go to Congress, rather than go via Executive Order. I think that was smart on his part....to many EO's at this point could easily have pushed a large number of people over the edge, so to speak...

Also, I like how some peoples rights being denied means that we should deny more people different rights, since all of our rights are so important....make sense much?

    Mr President,

You claim to be concerned for the children; how many die at the hand of those charged with caring for them? How many children die before ever seeing the light of day? How many die in auto accidents? How many die of starvation?

I can't believe that retard is talking about the street corners of Chicago while knowing their ban has done very, very little to change anything.

You don't know how frustrated I am sitting here at school with no headphones and the computers don't have speakers!!!

From the looks of it, and all your comments Obama is sounding like a complete liberal a**.

We all need to take a stand against this! I am a young individual and I will not have my rights continued to be infringe upon. We no longer need to submit to the opression of the goverment!

No. It's done very much to change things. Their ban has assured that law abiding citizens can't defend themselves.

How does he plan to pay for all those resource officers? More IOU's?
