This is actually Indygunguy's wife... and I'd like to learn how to can. I've read the books and stuff, but never done it myself. Is anyone canning soon that would like to have some help/teach me how to do it?

    It would be much appreciated!

Please don't reply to Indygunguy or this thread... you can email chrissy_andersen@yahoo.com

    Thanks!

If you can put together a car model or a kids toy you can can most stuff.

Get a copy of the Ball canning jar book and follow the instructions. Mom taught me when i was old enough to talk. beans and tomatoes are the way to go.

If you help when my tomatoes are ripe you can come over and help. I won;t charge you for the lesson. Heck i will even call mom over so you can learn from her like I did.

This is excellent advice. This will be my first year canning. I only plan to can my tomatoes this year if all goes well I will expand in to other high acidic foods and then get a pressure caner and go further.

The ball canning book is great and simple to follow.

Good idea start with tomatoes salsa etc right now. In month or so look for pear trees and apple. Practice making jam and sauce.
