i have the new pt845 which i think is a great new design from taurus. slim light and high cap .45. you cant beat it for the price. the only thing i dont like is if you load the mag with all 12 rounds it rattles. doesnt do it with 11rnds in the mag only 12. and the mag release is hard to engage. it gives you red thumb.

I like Taurus. I currently only have a PT1911 which is a good piece. I had to send it back to Taurus because it shot 4 inches low every time. Got it back tonight and hope to try it out this weekend. Looks like they put a lower front sight on it. Overall I like Taurus and think they are putting out a good product with a good price.

The 809-840-845 I believe all share the same mag release, my 809 was very hard also when I first got it, just got to work it both ways and it will start to loosen up.

I had never heard of the Taurus 800 series of handguns before this thread...if I had known about them I probably would have included the 845 in my list of higher cap .45s!

I ended up going with the 24/7 OSS. If it shoots as good as it feels I'm going to be a very happy camper.

I have 2 model 85's 1 old style and 1 new style, a 4 inch Model 94 22lr(bright stainless), and a 40cal. 24/7 the first type (not-PRO). Tomorrow I am going to try to pick up a PT1911 at the Shipshewana gun show.

My Dad bought a 24/7 in a .40. I thought it was a good shooting gun. He only shot it once, and traded it. For only $400, I would buy one but I do not want a carry weapon with a manual safety. I prefer the ability to decock, or have a trigger safety.

Get a 24/7 Pro DS in whatever caliber you like.

Pt-111 is a nice little piece along with the pt92 my buddy's dad has. Good reliability too. Went 8 years without being fired or cleaned, took it to the range and no problems whatsoever.

I have a 1911 which I like almost as much as my Colt Gold Cup. I also have a TacSol 22 conversion I run on it for some fun and inexpensive plinking.

Bought a 651 357 mag last April for a backup/ summer gun. Carry it all the time now! So easy to carry, don't even think about it anymore. It is my always have gun. Still carry my 45 or 9mm sometime but never feel outgunned with the "little 5 shot 357" and a couple of speed strips. Put about 500 rounds through it and shoots great and always have the ability to single action cock it for the fine work.

Here they are in their holsters the OSS rides in an ITAC retention holster, and the compact gets carried in a Kholster.

Hey Nate, was wondering if you've had a chance to slide a Taurus 809 into that ITAC retention holster to see if it fits?

Was told that the 809 and OSS share almost the same footprint, with the exception of barrel length.

I actually found out that one of the small Desanti XD40 holsters fit it at the last 1500 and bought it.

My latest carry gun. Added this to my other 40S&W carry guns. The Taurus has a manual safety which is one reason I chose it.

Sorry I haven't had an 809 in my ITAC yet, but since the guns are so similar I'm sure it would fit.

If you're interested, I bought mine from cheaper than dirt, they had the best price around.

58440 - iTac Defense Taurus 24/7 9mm and .40 S&W Roto Paddle Holster, Right Hand, Black Polymer

Also FYI, it seems like a very nice holster, good quality, made in Isreal, gun fits great, as nice as a Blackhawk but much cheaper.

Damn Andy now thats a gun. Just bought my 1st handgun. Was having some problems with the +p ammo but I love the gun. Hopefully I wont have a problem with non +p ammo. The gun feels very comfortable.

I just bought the gun on Saturday. Sunday we went out to shoot it. We were shooting 38 special +p 125 grain ammo. After we would fire a round and go to pull back the hammer. The empty cartridge would slide back and cause it not ro revolve.
